Analyzing Standard of Living Reflection

I think it is important to know about standard of living because it helps you classify countries and states based on how well they are doing meaning that if they are doing good they are in a high standard of living and if they are not doing well then they are a low standard of living. It also helps you see what you need to improve in your state to make it better. For example, if your country/state has a bad literacy rate and you notice it then you can take action and try to make it better.

Using the 5 themes of geography, you can tell how well their standard of living is because you can see what the place looks like where the location is and if it is good. You can also see how well their transportation is which also helps with their economics because if they don't have good transportation then they can’t  transport their goods to other countries. Using human environment interactions you can evaluate how well they take care of their environment to make it a save living habitat for people.

5 Themes of Geography

1. It helps people better understand connections because when you analyze the world with the 5 themes of geography, they help you understand what is going on in that place and how people are doing things. Location helps you find a place that you need to go to or are looking up, when you describe a place using human and physical characteristics that theme is place, movement is the theme that describes how people and goods move from one place to another, human and environment interactions is how people adapt, alter and use their environment to make their living cozy and region is when a place or an area has at least one thing in common. When you use all of these to analyze the world, you make a pretty good description of how people live and what the Earth looks and acts like.
2. I think the theme of geography that is the most difficult to understand is region. When I first was working with region I was really stumped on what it meant and then over time, I got more familiar with it and then it finally made sense to me. Region is when an area or place has at least one thing in common.

Map Skills Reflection

I think that one of the most easy things in map skills is the map key. I think this is the easiest thing because it tells you what each symbol means and it is easy to read. The map key normally has symbols that are easy to tell what they are and they place the symbols in places that are easy to tell where they are on the map.

I think the hardest thing or the thing I struggle most with is coordinates. I did not know a lot about coordinates before I did this so that was the thing I struggled with most. Now after studying them it makes sense and I now know how to find a place on a map using coordinates and how to read them on a map.

Map skills are very important when reading map and learning about geography. Map keys can tell you about all different things on a map, for example: climate, industries and population. Coordinates can help tell you where a specific place is on a map if you can find the correct coordinates for that place. The name of many different places can help you find something on a map too like oceans, lakes, continents, countries and states. Last cardinal directions can help tell you which way you are going or where something is located like Canada is located on the northern part of North America.
